Sacrifice and Bliss

In my quest to serve the world, I have decided to work on being ordained. Having found a home in the Unity tradition, I was searching for an ordainment that took from many traditions and religions including thought leaders of today. I also needed to study at my own pace and from home. This is why I have chosen the path of Jediism through the Temple of the Jedi Order.

Facebook-FollowBlissWe begin by contemplating why so many myths are similar although geologically separated. One of the theories is that we are all the same and have the same basic intuition. I believe more in the second, we have similar sources. As agriculture was filtered from the early centers, the stories were brought with it, just as the hunter’s stories are all similar yet different from the agricultural.

In hunter societies, animals are sacrificed to the god but in agricultural societies, it is the god themselves that are sacrificed.

Campbell explains that once we started growing food, we started seeing more seed analogies including Jesus. You see Jesus is the fruit of the tree of eternal life. He lived, died, was planted, and has come back again in order to bring life. According to Campbell, there were two trees in the Garden of Eden, the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Eternal Life. Once you ate from the Tree of Knowledge you forgot about the Tree of Eternal Life. Buddha sits under this tree, Christ hangs from it. The images are very similar. It is in remembrance that we are one with each other and with the Force, that we find eternal life.

It is by sacrificing the idea of self that we find bliss and by following the bliss that we find eternal life.

  1. Temple of the Jedi Order is something I know absolutely nothing about, in fact, until you started sharing your thoughts, I had never even heard of them. I can’t comment on something I know nothing of, so I’m going to find some time to investigate further.

    1. Hi Lorraine,
Thank you so much for your comment. You should truly investigate the Temple. It is a very open and loving place. I have truly enjoyed my studies thus far.
